Renovations of B-108 for Police Service
Renovations of B-108 for Police Service
Department of Veterans Affairs – Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston, Texas
What We Did
In order to centrally re-locate the VA Police Service within the campus, this 8,200 GSF renovation project converted unused office space and a small gymnasium into this state-of- the-art police facility. The new space incorporates Police dispatch, a prisoner holding cell, officer training areas, gun and equipment storage, detainee interview rooms, a secure area for monitoring surveillance cameras across the campus, administrative offices, locker rooms for the officers, and a back dock for safe and discreet transport to and from the holding cell. Despite an exceedingly tight budget, the new space provides the Police Service a greatly expanded footprint and consolidation of offices previously scattered throughout the hospital.
