Abatement Survey – Eye Clinic
Abatement Survey – Eye Clinic
Department of Veterans Affairs – Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, NC
What We Did
That smell!
The Durham VAMC faced a situation with foul odors inside an active ophthalmology clinic. Atriax was urgently called to assess the nature of the odors, investigate the cause and recommend corrections. Using Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and multi-gas meter, varying levels of VOCs were found and isolated. Further investigation, including confined space entry, revealed an old sanitary sewer manhole with neutralization assembly under the slab of the addition housing the eye clinic. Recommendations for access, repair and maintenance were made to correct the unpleasant environment.
Problem solved!
